Peggy McCay (born November 3, 1930 in N.Y. City) is an American actress, with a career spanning over 50 years in daytime TV and movies.

McCay graduated from Barnard College at Columbia University before her first major role as Vanessa Dale on the soap opera Love of Life. The show premiered in 1951 and made McCay an overnight star.

After four years of working five days a week on the series, she left to pursue other options. She played in four feature films in the late 1950s before landing a lead role in the television sitcom Room for One More in 1962, playing the role of Anna Perrott Rose.

McCay returned to soap operas in 1964 as one of the leads in ABC's sudser The Young Marrieds. When the show went off the air in 1966, she was written into the storyline on General Hospital, playing the role of Iris Fairchild until early 1970.

Today, McCay is best known for her role as Caroline Brady on the soap Days of Our Lives. First appearing on the program in 1982, she signed a long-term contract with the serial in 1985 and has appeared on the show ever since. She was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards in 1986 and 1987.

McCay's only lengthy absence occurred in 2003 when the show's writers wrote a serial killer storyline and had Caroline Brady brutally murdered in a church. In 2004, however, it was shown that the murders were hoaxes and McCay has since come back to the program in a limited capacity.

Abigail: You knew it was my alter. Gabi, I have apologized to you a thousand times. I never meant to hurt you.
Gabi: But I do want to hurt you, Abigail. I do. Because you, you just keep on leading this amazing, great life, and I'm the one who keeps getting screwed. You didn't even get punished for what you did, you didn't even get a slap on the wrist. You even told Chad you wanted to be punished. You're welcome. And yes, I did drug you, and yes I did put this wig on your head to make sure you were having a relapse. Hold the applause.
Abigail: Why are you confessing all this now?
Gabi: Because you can't do anything about it. I have you exactly where I want you.
Abigail: Well, you know I'm gonna tell everybody that you confessed.
Gabi: Oh like you told everybody about my last so-called confession at the courts? No one is gonna believe anything that you say, because what you said came out of a crazy person's mouth.
