13 First Dates that Prove Romance Really Exists

at .  Updated at .

When our favorite TV couples began, many started with these romantic first dates.

1. Emma and Hook (Once Upon A Time)

Emma finally had the experience that most people dread, her first date, with Captain Hook that is. While the romantic date Hook had planned was sweet, it was the parental reactions before and after that made the date even more memorable.

2. Luke and Lorelai (Gilmore Girls)

"I'm all in." The three words we waited for Luke to say to Lorelai for four years. Their date was totally worth the wait as Lorelai got to see a special place of Luke's and we finally got to see their relationship begin.

3. Angela and Hodgins (Bones)

If you know from a first date how good the relationship could be, it was a good date. Angela knew that, thanks to the late night playground date Hodgins brought her on, where they shared their first kiss.

4. Ted and Stella (How I Met Your Mother)

Stella may have not have been "The Mother," but Ted pulled out the big guns when planning Stella's two minute date. Ted squeezed in dinner, movie, dessert, and walk back all in two minutes. A memorable date, yes indeed.

5. Rachel and Finn (Glee)

It wasn't their first date, but it was one where Finn tried to win her back. He took enlisted the Glee guys to sing for them and took Rachel to Sardi's, the popular NYC restaurant. The date didn't work immediately, but eventually Finchel got back together.

6. Ben and Leslie (Parks and Recreation)

It was a simple 'date' and this was where Ben, Leslie, and everyone else knew that they were meant to be. Simply sitting in front of the Wildflower mural, they both mutally loved.

7. Oliver and Felicity (Arrow)

Another long awaited first date, ended explosively. Before that, Oliver was baring his heart to Felicity and proving how important she is in his life.

8. Nathan and Haley (One Tree Hill)

Brooke ruined the beginning of their relationship and she made up for it big time when she planned a date for them around Tree Hill so Nathan and Haley could get to know each other. "Always and Forever."

9. Kensi and Deeks (NCIS: Los Angeles)

Something every Densi fan was looking forward to. Deeks took the first step by inviting Kensi to a 'normal' dinner, but 'normal' it was not when he took her to a very romantic restaurant and basically told her about his feelings. Luckily, things went very well.

10. Ryan and Amber (Parenthood)

This was more of a do-over date. Amber spent the first one rightfully worrying about Kristina, when they had their second date, it was much more playful and fun when they went putt-putt golfing.

11. Jane and Rafael (Jane the Virgin)

Talk about a backwards relationship. Kiss, pregnancy, date. Since it was so unconventional, their first date was a way for them to get to know each other by talking about themselves and their future offspring.

12. Ezra and Aria (Pretty Little Liars)

Pretty Little Liars has always had complications, especially the relationships. Ezra and Aria were no different considering it was a teacher/student relationship. Their first date out of Rosewood showed what it would be like if this relationship was normal.

13. Meredith and Derek (Grey's Anatomy)

More of a first meeting than date, but a meeting that launched the show's most notorious couple. The two didn't even know each other's names the next morning though 11 seasons later they were married with two children. Talk about a first meeting.

Gilmore Girls Quotes

Lorelai: Hi, Mom.
Emily: Lorelai, my goodness, this is a surprise. Is it Easter already?
Lorelai: (sounding uncomfortable) No, I just, uh, finished up my business class and I thought I would stop by.
Emily: To see me?
Lorelai: Yes.
Emily: Well, isn't that nice. Come in.
Lorelai: Thanks.
(They walk to the living room.)
Lorelai: The place looks great.
Emily: It hasn't changed.
Lorelai: Well, there you go. How are the girls at the bridge club?
Emily: Old.
Lorelai: Well... good.
(Lorelai and Emily sit, opposite to each other)
Emily: You said you were taking a business class?
Lorelai: Yeah, mmhmm, yeah. I'm taking a business class at the college twice a week. I'm sure I told you.
Emily: Well, if you're sure then you must have. (she pauses) Would you like some tea?
Lorelai: I would love some coffee.
Richard: (calling from another room) Emily? I'm home.
Emily: We're in here.
(Richard walks into the living room)
Lorelai: Hi, Dad.
Richard: What is it, Christmas already?

Lorelai: (speaking to Luke) Wow, you look nice. Really nice.
Luke: I had a meeting earlier at the bank. They like collars. You look nice, too.
Lorelai: I had a flagellation to go to.
Luke: So, what'll you have?
Lorelai: Coffee, in a vat.
Rory: I'll have coffee also. And chili fries.
Luke: That's quite a refined palate you got there.
(Luke walks to the counter)
Lorelai: (to Rory) Behold the healing powers of a bath.
