Jane the Virgin's final season got underway Wednesday night, and it did so with some ratings growth.
Jane the Virgin Season 5 Episode 1 raked in 0.8 million viewers and a 0.3 rating for The CW, achieving the show's best ratings since February 2018.
Probably helping matters is that the show is no longer on Friday nights.
It fit like a glove out of Riverdale which had 0.9 million viewers and a 0.8 rating. If these ratings hold up, it's likely The CW will press on with the in-the-works Jane the Virgin spinoff.
Over on Fox, the ongoing Jussie Smollett drama continued to affect Empire, which scored a depressed 4 million total viewers and a 1.1 rating, matching series lows.
Star was also on the downside, matching season lows with 3.2 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating.
Survivor gained a tenth with 7.6 million viewers and a 1.6 rating.
Million Dollar Mix was a stronger option than the World's Best, scoring 4.1 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating.
SEAL Team posted a new low with 3.9 million viewers and a 0.6 rating.
Chicago Med (8 million/1.2 rating), Chicago Fire (8.2 million/1.2 rating), and Chicago P.D. (7.1 million/1.1 rating) were all steady.
ABC's Whiskey Cavalier was the sole original on the network, and it suffered, hitting just 3 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.
