One of the most used and popular television tropes is the placement of a "will they/won't they" relationship.
Not only does it help gain views, but it also keeps the audience excited and in suspense. Everyone loves a good buildup, and good television shows love to give it to us.

In most cases, a "will they/won't they" usually will, but once in a while, we'll stumble across a pair that doesn't quite give the audience the hoped-for payoff.
There are only two possible ways shipping a couple like this can turn out: you'll either be overly ecstatic or heartbroken and in despair.
But sometimes the risk is worth the reward, and we've listed 17 "will they/won't they" relationships that definitely should!
1.
Josh and Liza - Younger
These two have been together on and off throughout the entirety of Younger. While we love them, shipping Josh and Liza can be pretty hard since we never know quite where they'll end up.
2.
Anne and Gilbert - Anne With An E
It's pretty clear that Gilbert has always been enchanted by Anne, but it's unclear whether or not she feels the same way. It seems like we may have to wait until next season to see if there's any hope for these two.
3.
Tandy and Tyrone - Cloak and Dagger
Tandy and Tyrone are 100% meant to be. They're always there for each other and it's clear that their feelings are developing into something more. Season 2, don't let us down.
4.
Amy and Jonah - Superstore
After seasons of buildup, it looks like Amy and Jonah are right where we want them. Now we can only hope they stay that way.
5.
Kevin and Sophie - This is Us
Kevin and Sophie always find their way back to each other no matter what challenges they may face. While we're currently unaware of how often Sophie will actually appear in the new season, we're not giving up on these two quite yet.
6.
Eleanor and Chidi - The Good Place
Eleanor and Chidi are the definition of "will they, won't they." It just depends on what Good Place reboot they're in. Now that the reboots are over and Eleanor and Chidi just found each other on Earth, we can only hope that everything will work out in their favor.
7.
Lucifer and Chloe - Lucifer
Who doesn't love a slow burn? It was obvious these two had feelings for each other, even though Lucifer's may have developed quicker than Chloe's. These two deserve to be together and we can't wait to finally watch it play out.
8.
Beth and Rio - Good Girls
These two may have their difference but there's no denying that they have great potential for relationship development. We've got our fingers crossed that Good Girls has something amazing in the works.
9.
Eddie and Sam - Take Two
Eddie and Sam have an insane amount of chemistry and it's clear the show wants to use it. They may be polar opposites, but you know what they say about opposites attracting.
10.
John and Clarice - The Gifted
It could go either way with these two (and it has) but if we're certain of one thing, it's that John and Clarice belong together.
11.
Bellamy and Clarke - The 100
This "will, they won't" they relationship is so exhausting that sometimes it's easier to just settle for "won't they," and take a nice long nap. Despite the temptation, we'll never give up hope that these two star-crossed lovers will finally realize what's been right in front of them all along.
12.
Bruce and Selina - Gotham
This was a "will they/won't they" relationship that went on for years, but considering the conclusion of last season we're pretty hopeful that we can finally put them on the "will" list.
13.
Villanelle and Eve - Killing Eve
Villanelle and Eve's relationship is complicated to say the least. It's definitely pretty messed up at parts, considering that Eve stabbed Villanelle, but it would be interesting to see if they could make it work. How? We don't exactly know.
14.
Simon and Isabelle - Shadowhunters
Simon and Izzy have been friends for seasons, but with the show supposedly ending it's time to finally bring them to the next level. All great romances start as great friendships, and we can't wait for Shadowhunters to (hopefully) give Sizzy the storyline they deserve.
15.
Natalie and Will - Chicago Med
Although these two are currently together, we're not sure if they're going to stay that way. It was either go big or go home when Will proposed to Natalie in the middle of a fight. While Chicago Med left off on a cliffhanger, we can only hope she'll say yes. The alternative is something we do not want to face.
16.
Flynn and Lucy - Timeless
We're obviously on Team Wyatt too, but after everything, we would like to see Flynn and Lucy give it a shot. Unfortunately, with the show canceled and a single wrap-up movie in the works, it seems like that may not be possible.
17.
Alice and FP - Riverdale
It may be a little awkward considering their kids are dating, but to be quite honest we'd take Alice and FP over Bughead any day. A connection like their's doesn't go away over time, and we can only hope that Season 3 will bring their relationship back to fruition.
