The Handmaid's Tale Season 2: Bradley Whitford Joins Cast!
Paul Dailly at .The Handmaid's Tale is celebrating its Emmy win by adding an Emmy winning actor to the cast of its second season.
According to Deadline, Bradley Whitford has landed a recurring role on the Hulu hit as Commander Joseph Lawrence.
The character is described as a mad genius, who knows all about the economy in Gilead.
His complicated personality will make it difficult for his newest handmaid to know what he is really thinking.
Whitford is a seasoned TV veteran who has had roles in shows such as The West Wing, Transparent and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

The official description for The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 reads "The Emmy-winning drama series returns with a second season shaped by Offred’s pregnancy and her ongoing fight to free her future child from the dystopian horrors of Gilead. “Gilead is within you” is a favorite saying of Aunt Lydia."
"In Season Two, Offred and all our characters will fight against – or succumb to – this dark truth."
The Handmaid's Tale Season 1 concluded with Offred in a precarious situation. She was pregnant, bundled in the back of a van and taken to a new location.
It was a shocking conclusion, but there is a good chance she's going somewhere good because Nick whispered in her ear beforehand that everything would be fine.

Could Nick be playing a sick game with her, or does he have genuine feelings? That will be one of the more significant questions when the series returns in April.
We will also be getting to meet Offred's mother. She will be played by the excellent Cherry Jones. The character is sure to send shockwaves through the streets of Gilead when she makes her debut.
