The Simpsons returned from a baseball-prompted hiatus on Sunday with a heavy heart.

Following the death of Marcia Wallace, the animated hit paid tribute to the woman behind Edna Krabappel in its chalkboard opening credits prior to "Four Regrettings and a Funeral."

Unfortunately, the installment itself was among the show's best.
