Mindy Kaling just got promoted on The Office. Not into Michael Scott's managerial shoes, sadly.

The writer, producer and co-star of the show (you know her as Kelly Kapoor) signed a one-year deal that will continue her role on screen, while increasing her influence to that of executive producer behind the cameras.

Kaling has written or co-written some of the show’s most memorable episodes in recent years, most notably Jim and Pam’s episode “Niagara”, so it's certainly a well-deserved promotion for the comedienne.
