at .  Updated at .

Remember Evan Marriott? Probably not, but you surely remember his reality TV alter ego, don't you? Joe Millionaire?

It was like The Bachelor with an evil, deceptive twist. The construction worker pretended to be worth $50 million while courting 20 women. The finale - when he revealed he's broke and working-class - drew tens of millions.

Entertainment Weekly has put together a feature of some of reality TV's most memorable controversial shows of yore, speaking with the stars on whether their journey was worth it and what they're up to now.

Evan Marriott and nine others are profiled, in their own words. It's a fun look back at the good ol' days of the reality TV genre ... you know, before like 2006 (also known as the sex tape / Toastee nude era).

Alan: Because you’re around too many people.
Lindsey: No, no, no, no. Please, don’t!
Alan: I’m gonna go talk to him.

Alan: I think it’s … where’s Drew? Hey Drew!
Lindsey: No. No! He could be the killer!
